The 9th edition of the Simorgh International Film Festival has been set to host arts from 93 countries.
Holding a press conference on Monday, the organizers announced that the festival has received some 1300 artworks from 93 countries.
Applicants from India with 119 works, the US with 80 works and Spain with 76 works are on the top of the list of submissions.
The festival includes five categories, namely theater, film, visual arts, literature and music. The film category only accepts films created by university students on the theme of ‘Culture of Health’ in two sections of short films and animations.
Organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the festival brings together students from across the globe and offers the opportunity to share their interests and concerns about health issues.
The festival is named after the legendary bird in Iranian mythology which is the symbol of medicine in Iran.
The 9th edition of the Simorgh International Festival is slated for April 30-May 5, 2018, in Tehran.
